The White House just got busted hiding alarming intel from Congress for Trump’s foreign buddies

Despite President Trump’s insistence that his administration is one of the most transparent in history, it has consistently proven to be frustratingly opaque, with the only consistently obvious elements being the blatant corruption seeping out of every level of the executive branch.

Now, CNN reports that Democrats are incensed at the president, having learned that the Trump administration knew and failed to inform them that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been advancing its ballistics weapons program with assistance from China. The expansion includes both infrastructure and technology and represents a substantial leap in the KSA’s military capabilities.

Three sources with knowledge of the situation informed CNN that Trump’s people did not share the classified intelligence with the members of Congress who should have bee notified immediately. Instead, Democrats learned of the shocking development from irregular channels outside the traditional flow of U.S. government information. They believe it was intentionally excised from briefings in which it should have been clearly presented.

Some Democrats fear that the Trump administration’s decision to keep the information a secret means they are implicitly giving Saudi Arabia the green light to pursue advanced ballistics, perhaps in an effort to tip the regional balance in the Middle East against Iran. It also raises the obvious question of what other world shifting information Congress is being left in the dark about.

As CNN explains, the United States is prohibited from selling ballistic weapons to Saudi Arabia under a 1987 agreement intended to avoid missile proliferation. Since China did not sign the pact, there is nothing barring them from providing weapons and technology.

This shocking development appears to be part of the larger trend of coziness between the Trump administration and the Saudi regime. When the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman ordered the execution and dismemberment of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Trump refused to condemn his actions even amidst worldwide outcry.

The president’s son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner is also known for having a very close relationship with the prince, with many speculating that the appeasement and friendliness from Trump’s administration is part of some larger plutocratic plot to line the pockets of Trump’s family and his associates.

Whatever the explanation here, it’s utterly unacceptable that Trump would seek to keep something as serious as the proliferation of ballistic technology in the Middle East from Congress and clearly demonstrates yet again how unsafe it is having him in the Oval Office.

Phill Mattingly, one of the reporters to break the story for CNN, explained the implications even further in a series of tweets.
