President Trump’s trip to the United Kingdom has predictably turned out to be little more than an opportunity for him to repeatedly embarrass the United States on the world stage. The British weren’t exactly thrilled to be hosting our would-be authoritarian president, and mass protests were organized to give him the kind of welcome he deserves.
Unable to accept the fact that he is widely despised, Trump’s turgid ego prompted him to refer to the protests as “fake news” the coded phrase he uses to refer to anything reported that is unflattering about himself. Instead of addressing the reality of the situation, he acted as if he had been greeted by mobs of adoring fans.
“It was tremendous spirit and love. There was great love. It was an alliance. And I didn’t see the protesters until just a little while ago, and it was a very small group of people put in for political reasons. So it was fake news,” Trump insisted.
Unfortunately, for the liar-in-chief there is abundant evidence that the protests did, in fact, take place and CNN has humiliated the president by fact-checking and airing footage of the massive protests in Trafalgar Square. Jim Sciutto played the videos for viewers, including shots of a massive Trump robot tweeting from atop a toilet.
“Let’s just show you some video of the protests taking place right now at Trafalgar Square. That, uh, effigy, I suppose you could call it, of President Trump there tweeting, not only there in Trafalgar Square, where they appear to be fairly well attended, but there were some boos against the president as he entered the press conference. So, the president claimed the protests were fake news; there they are for your own eyes to see,” said Sciutto.
Trump is sure to be furious when he flips on his television and sees honest coverage of his visit. He can lie all he wants, but he can’t escape the fact that most of the world hates him and our closest allies are counting down the days until he’s booted out of office.
