A voicemail between White House lawyer John Dowd and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’ layer Rob Kelner was released by the Justice Department and obtained by the press this afternoon, and it appears to show the President’s legal team attempting to convince Flynn to give them a “heads up” up if he was going to share any “implicating information” with prosecutors.

Currently awaiting sentencing, Michael Flynn admitted to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his secret communications with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak in the post-election transition period.

The voicemail is believed by many to be evidence of obstruction of justice and could be construed as witness tampering by the President’s team since it is fairly obviously an attempt to interfere in Flynn’s cooperation with federal prosecutors.

That appears to be all we’re going to get from the Department of Justice, which is refusing to release the transcripts of Flynn’s calls with the Russian ambassador that started this entire investigation in the first place.

It remains to be seen what the consequences of this release will be, but it certainly is a significant addition to the mountain of evidence against the president and his cronies. Now the only question is what Congress will do about it.
