President Trump started off this Memorial Day by sparking outrage with a tasteless tweetstorm attacking his political opponents. The man is so fundamentally lacking in basic human decency that he refuses to take a break — even on a day as solemn as this — from being a vile creep.
Now, things have taken an even darker turn. While speaking at a press conference in Japan, Trump brought up North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un’s recent insulting comments about former Vice President and current presidential candidate Joe Biden.
After Biden correctly labeled Kim a “tyrant” and “dictator” during a recent speech in Philadelphia, North Korean state media hit back by calling the veteran statesman a “fool of low IQ” who is “seized by ambition for power,” the latter being a particularly ironic criticism coming from a man who rules over a nightmarish totalitarian state.
Over the weekend, Trump shamefully threw his support behind the murderous Kim’s attack, saying that it made him smile and that somehow, despite all evidence to the contrary, he believes Kim will honor his promises to the United States.
North Korea fired off some small weapons, which disturbed some of my people, and others, but not me. I have confidence that Chairman Kim will keep his promise to me, & also smiled when he called Swampman Joe Biden a low IQ individual, & worse. Perhaps that’s sending me a signal?

During the press conference today, Trump doubled down on his support of the dictator’s words, bringing up the “low IQ” insult and adding that Trump agrees Biden “probably is, based on his record.”
“I think I agree with him on that,” President Trump said, siding with a mass murderer and adversary of America on Memorial Day of all days. According to The Hill, he then used a followup question to smear the Obama administration.
“I don’t take sides as to who I’m in favor of, who I’m not. But I can tell you that Joe Biden was a disaster. His administration with President Obama, they were basically a disaster when it came to so many things,” said Trump.

It hardly needs to be said, but it is completely inexcusable for an American president to side with a brutal tyrant in a war of words against a fellow American, even if that American is a political opponent of his.
It also makes sense that Kim prefers that Trump win reelection since the president has repeatedly praised him and failed to hold him accountable for his actions. Trump’s approach to North Korea has been incredibly weak and done little beyond elevating Kim’s profile on the international stage.
The simple truth is that America’s enemies prefer that a spineless man like Donald Trump occupies the Oval Office. For that, and countless other reasons, it’s crucial that he be voted out in 2020.
