Under normal circumstances, a visit to the White House is a cherished event, a hard-earned reward and a source of national recognition. Under President Trump, it’s nothing more than an opportunity to rub elbows with a cruel bully and some have taken to declining the invitations outright.

Recently, the World Series-winning Boston Red Sox attended a White House event celebrating their big victory, and it quickly devolved into a string of embarrassing moments for Trump, the biggest being the brief history lesson he gave to the team in which he stunningly claimed that Abraham Lincoln lost the war. As soon as the story of his astounding ignorance emerged, ridicule poured in.

It now appears that Trump is still stewing over the gaffe. Today, he took to Twitter to talk about the Red Sox’s visit to 1600 Pennslyvania Avenue and made the bizarre insinuation that their trip invested with them with a sort of magic power or luck, calling it the opposite of being on the cover of Sports Illustrated, a reference to the superstition that appearing on the cover can curse a team or athlete.
Of course, the recent string of Red Sox victories, a reversal of their fortunes, can be attributed solely to the team’s hard work and performance on the field. The president cannot and did not bless them with special game-winning powers, and in a sane world that would not even need to be said.

The president also made reference to others doing “very well” after coming to see him at the White House but failed to specify who. Overall, it’s an incredibly strange tweet that can only really be explained by Trump’s monumental insecurities. He hates the fact that White House visits are taken far less seriously under his administration, and so now he is pulling out this pathetic attempt to invent a myth that he brings good luck.

This is clearly not a well man. Going forward, those invited to visit him at the White House would do well to ignore his nonsensical claims and turn down the invitation. This man doesn’t deserve respect and no patriotic American should be validating him in any way.
Has anyone noticed that all the Boston @RedSox have done is WIN since coming to the White House! Others also have done very well. The White House visit is becoming the opposite of being on the cover of Sports Illustrated! By the way, the Boston players were GREAT guys!
