Trump just panicked and threw a tantrum for the ages over Mueller testimony news

With Congress deep in negotiations with Special Counsel Robert Mueller to testify about his reaction to Attorney General Wiliam Barr’s misrepresentations about the conclusions of his report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and President Trump’s obstruction of justice in the investigation of the circumstances around it, the president lashed out on Twitter against basic unfairness of Congress trying to hold him accountable for the actions clearly presented in the Special Counsel’s report.

Trump seems to believe that repetitive tweeting of the same misinformation will miraculously make it true or at least convince his gullible supporters that it is so, but once again we are forced to point out the fallacies in the president’s angry and defensive missive.

The cost of Mueller’s probe — which resulted in seven guilty pleas and one conviction by jury out of the 34 people and three companies charged by the Special Counsel — will be largely offset by the assets seized from Paul Manafort who forfeited his property paid for with money gained through the financial fraud of which he was convicted.

Trump’s claim that “18 Trump Hating Angry Democrats & 49 FBI Agents” conducted the investigation is proven false by the voter registrations of many of the investigators, including that of Mueller himself who is a registered Republican.

The president’s assertion that the Mueller report found “NO COLLUSION”  is disingenuous at best, since collusion was not a legal term that Mueller was investigating and his inquiry only found that he could establish evidence of conspiracy and coordination with the “Russian government” at the criminal level of “beyond a reasonable doubt” and only then because of the Special Counsel’s generous determination that Donald Trump Jr. was too stupid to know what he was doing.

Trump again repeats his ridiculously unfounded claim that it was the Democrats who committed a crime by urging the FBI to investigate a claim — later proven to be horrifyingly true by the Mueller report — that a foreign government was attempting to influence the American presidential election to favor the victory of one particular candidate who happened to be Trump himself.

Note that Trump cannot even cite a legal argument against the propriety of the Special Counsel’s prospective testimony before Congress since there are no legitimate legal issues preventing such testimony.

With the revelations that Mueller wrote a letter to Attorney General William Barr criticizing his mischaracterization of the conclusions of his report for the sole benefit of the president rather than the truth, it is imperative that the Special Counsel appears before the Congressional committees investigating the results of his probe as soon as possible.

No amount of whining from the President about the unfairness of having to have his actions questioned should interfere with the American public’s right to know the truth.
