William Barr’s tenure as Attorney General will go down as one of the most shameful performances of the Trump administration, a distinction of some heft given the vast corruption and criminality that has been allowed to flourish at every level under our game show president.

We now know that Special Counsel Robert Mueller sent a letter to Barr after the AG released his brief summary of the official Russia investigation report. In it, Mueller said that Barr “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this Office’s work and conclusions.”
It’s clear that Barr was appointed by Trump to shield him from criminal consequences, and Barr has risen eagerly to the task, most notably by refusing to pursue any obstruction of justice charges against the president. His testimony before Congress yesterday, during which he went out of his way to defend Trump’s actions, acting more like a personal lawyer for the current odious occupant of the Oval Office rather than a law enforcement official serving the American people was inexcusable.
Calls for Barr’s immediate impeachment or resignation have begun to build.
What I just saw from the Attorney General is unacceptable. Barr must resign now.

The Attorney General does not swear an oath of loyalty to any one individual. The AG swears an oath of loyalty to the Constitution of the United States. Barr has made clear that he doesn't swear his loyalty that way & that disqualifies him from being AG. He should resign.

Barr has failed in his responsibility to our country. He is not fit to serve as Attorney General and should resign.

Attorney General Barr answers to the American people—not to President Trump—and over the past 24 hours it’s become clear that he lied to us and mishandled the Mueller Report. He needs to step down. Add your name if you agree: https://t.co/x7KkyROdi5

Now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), one of the strongest and most reliable Democratic voices standing against the Trump administration, has officially accused William Barr of committing a crime by misleading the public during his testimony to Congress.

Attorney General Barr’s decision to mislead the public in his testimony to Congress was not a technicality — it was a crime.

“The attorney general of the United States of America was not telling the truth to the Congress of the United States. That’s a crime,” she said during a press appearance. While she’s obviously correct, it should be pointed out that the fact that this administration has spun so wildly out of control that the Speaker of the House has no choice but to accuse a sitting Attorney General of a crime shows how badly Trump has degraded our system.

During a private whip meeting with Democrats, Pelosi reiterated her feelings about Barr and also took aim at Trump, stating that “impeachment is too good for him.” Clearly, some very serious plans are brewing within the Democratic Party, and it seems like only a matter of time before they use their House majority to hold these crooks accountable. Things have reached an inflection point and with Pelosi at the helm, the country is in good hands.
Speaker Pelosi told colleagues in a whip meeting this am that “we’ve witnessed a crime” when Bill Barr answered Crist’s question
