Today is National Prayer Day and who could possibly be better suited to help the country celebrate it than our philandering, lying, criminal, racist, treasonous president?

Donald Trump was foisted into the White House in large part through the help of the Evangelical right, whose decision to support such a man proves that their hypocrisy knows no bounds. Now, we are stuck with one of the evilest men to ever inhabit the White House and the GOP wants us all to believe that he is a deeply faithful man of God. The charade is sickening.
Trump opened up his National Prayer speech by talking about Venezuela and the current civil struggle unfolding there, which must have been a confusing entry point for an audience that showed up to discuss faith and prayer. This president is incapable of putting his political agenda aside for such much as an hour, and his choice of topic once again reveals that he doesn’t actually care about religion.

It also must be said that Trump’s fake religiosity is more sinister than mere dishonesty because he and his Republican cronies regularly use it as a weapon against marginalized groups. During his comments today at the White House, he touted the fact that his administration is finalizing new protections for “conscience rights” for healthcare professionals, teachers, students and more. All this really means is that he wants to make it easier for individuals on the religious right to discriminate against LGBTQ people. It’s as transparent as it is disgusting.

At one point, President Trump singled out a woman in the audience and made some uncomfortable and frankly bizarre remarks about her red hair, creepily telling her “You better come up here.” It seems that even during an event dedicated to prayer the president still feels comfortable engaging in borderline harassment.
As Trump’s speech unfolded, Twitter exploded with brutal criticisms, with users unable to resist the urge to point out the blatant hypocrisy on display and enumerate the president’s myriad transgressions. Read some of the best below.
Trump leading this National Day of Prayer is like me trying to romance the ladies. Sure, I could go through the motions, but no one with half a brain would be buying it.

I only watched a few minutes of it, trump was treating it as a pep rally. I couldn't watch another disaster like the Drug/Easter fiasco. I can only imagine what he could do to the prayer breakfast. God bless us.

On last year’s National Day of Prayer, Trump began the day by saying he reimbursed his personal lawyer for hush money to a porn star. https://t.co/hwI1Zi0CWO

After Maria Butina contaminated the National Prayer Breakfast, I’m not participating in anything with “prayer” and “national” ever again. All y’all are hypocrites if you don’t repent for voting for Trump.

An awakening must start with prayer AND REPENTANCE. The Church must repent of trading grace for political power, for seeking to control her neighbors, for neglecting her mission in service to her own comfort.
Going to a fancy Prayer Breakfast hosted by political power ain't it.
