Trump just started his weekend with a paranoid tweetstorm about Mueller report’s bombshell findings

There’s never been any doubt that Donald Trump is his own worst enemy, and the Mueller report certainly confirms that impression by exposing the president’s efforts to conceal, deny, and lie in order to protect himself.

President Trump continued that trend with his tweets this morning that once again simultaneously attacked the report, the people who created it, and the media who reported about it while celebrating — and misrepresenting — its conclusions.

He began by claiming that the report was ill-begotten — despite the numerous indictments and guilty pleas by multiple members of his campaign staff.

The king of insulting nicknames also ironically complained that the tone of the report was nasty and decided mid-tweet to increase the number of so-called “Angry Democrats” on the Mueller team from 13 to 18 despite the fact that the special counsel himself is a registered Republican.

His attack on Mueller himself as highly conflicted — presented without a shred of evidence — demonstrates that Trump will say anything, no matter how preposterous, to present a false image of his innocence, including the complete misrepresentation of Mueller’s conclusions on obstruction which explicitly said it did not exonerate the president and only failed to indict him for his criminal behavior because of Justice Department policies prohibiting the indictment of a sitting president. .

With his next tweet, Trump turns his attack on the “Fake News Media” for reporting on the most newsworthy contents of the redacted Mueller report — his clear pattern of obstruction of the investigation — rather than on the decision that because the special counsel had decided that the president’s son was too stupid to know what he was doing was criminal that the level of proof to prove conspiracy with Russia was insufficient to prosecute,

Just in case you missed his point in the two earlier tweets, Trump repeats himself  — and his lie about his obstructive behavior — in another tweet.

“Pretty Amazing” that the president has the audacity to assume that his base will believe his two-word summary over the entire second volume of Mueller’s report focusing on the 10 instances of obstruction that he was found to have committed.

So desperate is Trump to foist his spin on the deeply damaging report that he prepared a video summary of the numbers involved in the investigation — conveniently leaving out the fact that the cost of the inquiry was more than made up for by the recovery of millions of dollars from Paul Manafort’s ill-gotten overseas bank accounts and property forfeitures.

Repeating his false claim of “no obstruction” as if the power of sheer repetition can transform it into actual truth, President Trump reveals the fear and paranoia he holds as the shame of his conduct filters out to a larger portion of the public consciousness.

Despite the hesitancy of some top Democrats to begin impeachment proceeding over the fear that a Republican-controlled Senate will never vote to convict Trump and that the resulting backlash will only strengthen Trump in the 2020 presidential elections, impeachment is the only viable response to the criminal conduct that the Mueller report reveals.

Even if the Senate does refuse to convict Trump due to the misplaced loyalties of GOP senators, having Republicans be forced to go on the record to defend him could be a significant factor in helping Democrats regain not only the White House but the Senate as well in 2020 after even more details of the president’s malfeasance come to light during the impeachment proceedings.

Read the report yourself and then call your congressional representatives and insist that they begin impeachment now!
