Trump’s guilty conscience just reared its ugly head in frantic Mueller report tweet

President Trump’s handpicked hack of an attorney general William Barr finally released Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report today, with large swathes of the document redacted and blacked out. The administration immediately rushed to claim total victory, this despite the fact that the report contains incredibly damning details about Trump’s behavior and painstakingly recounts ten different instances that Mueller probed for possible obstruction of justice.

Barr, siding sycophantically with the man who appointed him, chose not to pursue obstruction charges, but that does nothing to exonerate Trump and only makes his White House look that much more corrupt and guilty.

Now, Trump has taken to Twitter and rather than the jubilant and triumphant tone one might expect from a crook feigning vindication, he came across incredibly bitter, presumably because much of the cable news coverage is focusing on the obvious wrongdoing revealed by the report rather than running interference for him.

“I had the right to end the whole Witch hunt if I wanted,” Trump erroneously claimed. “I could have fired everyone, including Mueller if I wanted,” he added. He, of course, failed to mention that doing so would have likely added yet another heinous example of obstruction of justice to his resume.

Trump went on to say that he had the “RIGHT” to exert Executive Privilege, another point which is completely up for debate.

The entire frantic tweet is a transparent attempt on the president’s part to whitewash his behavior over the past two years, during which he repeatedly attacked Mueller and tried to undermine his investigation. He also reportedly flirted with the idea of firing the special counsel outright, but his aides managed to stop him. Trump’s tweet speaks to a deeply guilty conscience and seems to indicate that even he realizes this sordid saga is far from over. If he was confident in his victory he would be much calmer right now.
