If Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has grown weary of her role as the right-wing’s new favorite punching bag, she isn’t showing much in the way of stress about it.
Take, for example, her response to the insult-laden bloviating from Fox News‘ aging racist frat boy anchor of its prime time broadcast, Tucker Carlson.
Carlson, known for an imbecilic resting “dumbfounded face” that still makes him appear less completely lacking in intelligence than he deserves, went off on the rising young Latina representative in his Monday night program. He also had a few choice words to share about his time slot rival at MSNBC, Chris Hayes, who had hosted Ocasio-Cortez at a Friday evening town hall on the Green New Deal that inspired the Fox News host’s explosion of vitriol.
“Chris Hayes is what every man would be if feminists ever achieved absolute power in this country: apologetic, bespectacled, and deeply, deeply concerned about global warming and the patriarchal systems that cause it,”
Apparently, Carlson’s comments about Hayes are considered horrifyingly insulting to the audience of alt-right incels who gravitate to his white nationalist views because —seriously — the MSNBC anchor actually cares about whether the planet continues to be able to support life…and wears glasses.
As far as Representative Ocasio-Cortez goes, Carlson came up with a description that could have come straight out of his own bio, or at least from the unflattering comments left by his detractors on his Twitter feed.
“So it’s official. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a moron and nasty and more self-righteous than any televangelist who ever preached a sermon on cable access. She’s not impressive, she’s awful,” Carlson declared.
If the Fox News host’s got under the firebrand Congresswoman ‘s skin, it didn’t show in the least. She expressed her inability to take seriously anything that Carlson utters in her tweeted response to the conservative commentator’s venomous rant.
Three words, a question mark, and an emoji are all the tools that Ocasio-Cortez needed to completely frustrate any angst that Carlson may have hoped that his smear of the progressive congresswoman would elicit.
Well played, AOC, well played!
