It appears our incredibly lazy president spent his morning engaged in his favorite activity: sitting in his room and watching television while angrily tweeting about every image to flicker past his drooling face. The accompanying Twitter stream of consciousness included the expected lies about the Mueller report, as well as a strange reference to some “secret” Trump plans to reveal to us all at some point.
The president wasn’t only interested in talking about such serious national matters as the Mueller investigation though, and couldn’t resist the urge to dip his toes back into some of the petty, celebrity bickering that he’s so known for. Trump took aim at Morning Joe’s Joe Scarborough, his former friend turned hated foe.
The two used to get along quite well, but a short while after Trump became president they had a much-publicized falling out, which included the former reality TV host attacking not only Scarborough but his wife and co-host Mika Brzezinski with crude insults and petty, unflattering anecdotes. It was like a particularly disturbing episode of Real Housewives, but instead of wealthy women, it was the most powerful man in the world and a couple of television personalities.

In his tweet, Trump attacked the ratings for Morning Joe, claiming that they were “really bad” to begin with, but have now “tanked” even further with the release of the Mueller report. Trump also claimed that shows on MSNBC and CNN have seen their ratings plummet in the less than a week that has elapsed since Mueller submitted his report and Attorney General William Barr released his strangely short summary of it.
While it’s true that some news programs have seen their ratings dip somewhat, it’s an incredibly stupid topic for the President of the United States to be wasting his time on. Furthermore, these shows are sure to rebound as soon as Trump commits his newest blunder or diplomatic debacle.
“Just shows, Fake News never wins!” Trump ended his tweet, employing one of his most-overused and disengunous talking points. Morning Joe, whatever one might think of the quality of the program, does not qualify as “fake news” simply because it refuses to fawn over our deeply incompetent leader. The same goes for MSNBC’s and CNN’s shows.
Trump is once again trying to use the Mueller report, which hasn’t even been revealed yet, to smear the media. The fact that Republicans still haven’t released the full report and we’ve only been given access to a summary written by Trump’s handpicked AG makes it seem likely if not inevitable that the full document contains deeply damaging information about the president. The American people deserve it, and until they do Trump has no legitimacy to criticize the way news outlets covered the Mueller investigation.
Wow, ratings for “Morning Joe,” which were really bad in the first place, just “tanked” with the release of the Mueller Report. Likewise, other shows on MSNBC and CNN have gone down by as much as 50%. Just shows, Fake News never wins!
