Trump’s Attorney General William Barr has released his summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, stating that no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia has been found. Mueller didn’t draw any conclusion as to whether or not Trump obstructed justice but also specifically didn’t exonerate him.
While the full report still hasn’t been released, and could very well include incredibly damaging material about the president and his associates, Republicans are already trying to paint Mueller’s report as a resounding victory for the GOP. Some are even calling for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) to resign over his part in pushing to investigate Trump and his cronies for collusion. The bad faith demands are rubbish, and Schiff was absolutely correct to push for finding the truth, even if some of his suspicions weren’t validated in the end.

Counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway called for Schiff’s resignation during a Fox News news segment, a supremely hypocritical ploy from a woman incapable of spreading anything other than partisan hackery and misinformation. She feigns self-righteous outrage over Schiff but continues to actively support and enable the most corrupt American president in history.

Now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has come forward to defend Schiff. Her office gave a statement to The Hill in which Pelosi’s spokeswoman Ashley Etienne referred to the attacks on Schiff as “ridiculous” and said he’s done an “outstanding job” in his duties as Chairman of his committee.

“Democrats aren’t going to be intimidated by the White House or Congressional Republicans, we’re not going to be distracted from securing the release of the full Mueller report and the underlying evidence, and we will continue to pursue legitimate oversight because that’s what the Constitution requires,” Etienne went on. “The days of Congress ignoring the mountain of legal and ethical misconduct by this President and Administration are over.”
It’s good to see Democrats standing up for each other, and this statement showcases once again what a competent party leader Pelosi is. She refuses to cave to the disingenuous attacks of the GOP and her strength and resilience are some of our greatest weapons in the war against President Trump and his vile party.
