Trump just trashed John McCain in wild, offensive speech at US’s last tank factory

Our deeply disturbed president gave another one of his borderline incoherent, rambling speeches today at the Lima Army Tank Plant in Lima, Ohio today. As we’ve come sadly to expect from him, Trump delivered a smattering of baseless brags and cruel attacks on his political opponents during his visit to the last tank manufacturing plant in the country.

First on the smear list was Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Trump trotted out his incredibly tired and racist nickname for her, “Pocahontas” a reference to her claim to have Native American ancestry. The offensive moniker got a laugh of approval from the audience, a clear a sign as any that the GOP is no longer bothering to even pretend that it isn’t absolutely filled to the brim with frothing racists.

Trump soon moved on to discuss the late Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and began to attack the memory of the deceased statesman. The president bemoaned the fact that McCain voted against his efforts to repeal Obamacare, painting it as a betrayal that has cost the United States a “trillion dollars.” In reality, McCain voted against the destructive legislation because it would have imploded our already tenuous healthcare system in the interest of fulfilling a cheap campaign promise.

Once he got started on McCain, he just kept going and went on to complain that he never received a thank you for “approving” the late senator’s funeral, as if the dead man could have somehow done that.

The president’s strange, perverse fascination with McCain’s legacy is an indication that he is deeply jealous of him. While McCain was serving his country and being tortured overseas a prisoner of war, Trump was receiving deferment after deferment because of “bone spurs.” Trump will never receive the kind of respect much of the country still maintains for McCain, and he hates that fact.

Unfortunately for the president, his audience didn’t seem to share his disdain for McCain and refused to clap or cheer on his attack against a man who is no longer around to defend himself.

Trump rounded up his disgraceful performance by getting in an unnecessary and unprompted kick at former President Barack Obama, demonstrating in the process that even now, over two years into his presidency, Trump is incapable of stepping out of his predecessor’s shadow. The man is a pathetic joke and the sooner we are no longer subjected to speeches like this the better.
