Lindsey Graham just blocked a resolution to make Mueller report public for the dumbest reason

In what can perhaps be best described as a cynical campaign to make himself the heir apparent to the MAGA mantle after Trump eventually shuffles out of the Oval Office, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has transformed himself from a sharp critic of the president into one of his most embarrassingly sycophantic supporters. Today, he once again demonstrated that there is no low to which he will not sink to ingratiate himself to our conman leader.

The Hill reports that Graham has blocked a nonbinding resolution intended to ensure the public release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s pending report. The resolution passed through the Democratically-controlled House of Representatives with unanimous support from both parties and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked the Senate to add their unanimous consent to it. The Senate rules dictate that any one senator can call for such a vote, but on the other hand, any one senator can block it.

Graham refused to sign onto the resolution after Schumer rejected a request to amend it to include a call for the Department of Justice to appoint an additional Special Counsel, this one dedicated to probing the manner in which the DOJ handled the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email usage as well as the FISA requests regarding former Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.

Both issues are perennial right-wing conspiracy theory bugaboos that have received incessant Fox News coverage. They are not serious subjects for investigation and bringing them up in such a manner is a transparent attempt to muddy the waters and make it seems like Democrats are as guilty of wrongdoing as Trump and his numerous crooked cronies.

While Graham insisted that he supports Mueller’s work and simply wants to make sure justice is applied equally to Democrats and Republicans alike, his opposition to the resolution is obviously just the latest sleazy attempt on his part to pander to the leader of his party. He’s a man without spine or principle, who is interested only in increasing his own power. Graham should be ashamed of himself and has now given his constituents just one more reason to vote him out of office the first chance they get.

Add your name to reject Trump’s “hereby demand” for baseless investigation into Obama administration!
