Speaker Pelosi just sent Trump’s children an ominous message about the House’s investigations

When Donald Trump slithered into the White House in 2016, he brought much of his crooked family along with him for the ride, quickly slotting them into roles they have neither the qualifications nor the capabilities to properly perform.

Ivanka Trump was given an official advisor role, while her husband Jared Kushner became a senior advisor to the administration. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric weren’t given official government positions, but have become full-time surrogates for their father, pushing his agenda in the media and appearing at his rallies.

Since they’ve decided to willingly support President Trump even as he destroys our democratic norms and undermines our foundational systems, the president’s family members must be targeted by the investigators probing the administration for misdeeds and malfeasances.

Now, Roll Call reports that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has signaled that she believes Trump’s children are fair game.

“They are investigating certain subjects. Whoever falls into that net, falls into the net,”  she told reporters.

Pelosi went on to say that since some of them are advisers to the president with their own security clearances it wouldn’t make sense to treat them like children he left at home while he went off to run the government. They are the government now. Pelosi further explained that investigations into their actions could be prompted by credible allegations against them from witnesses or reporters.

Earlier this week, Ivanka and Kushner were dragged into the limelight as increased scrutiny was applied to the fact that they both have security clearances. CNN reported that President Trump interceded personally to grant the highly-coveted access to his daughter.

On Tuesday the administration sparked outrage by responding to House Oversight Committee Elijah Cummings’s (D-MD) request for details about Kushner’s clearance with a rebuke. The White House made the stunning announcement that it would only hand over the relevant documents if it was demonstrated that they were needed solely for “legislative purposes,” a direct rebuke of Congress’s oversight powers.

The more Trump and his family are poked, the more defensive and obfuscating they become. His children behave just as suspiciously as the other crooks the president has chosen to surround himself with, and Pelosi is absolutely correct to shine a light on them. At this point, it’s only a matter of time before the American people discover just how widespread and deep the Trump family corruption runs.
