Last night, in an effort to throw red meat to his most racist supporters and peddle his asinine, never-going-to-happen border wall, Trump held a rally in El Paso, Texas. He decided to bring his neanderthal son Donald Trump Jr. along for the ride and as is so often the case with the conspiracy-mongering, intellectually and morally empty waste of organic matter, it was only a matter of time before junior’s comments caused outrage.

While addressing the crowd at the rally, Trump Jr. decided to attack, of all people, teachers. He urged the young conservatives in the crowd to bring their ideology to school and told them they don’t have to be “indoctrinated by these loser teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth.”

The stunning comments seemingly came out of left field, but tie into a persistent and pernicious belief on the right which claims that schools are bastions of leftist brainwashing. The simple fact that their own conservative worldview might be completely untethered from reality and as such inappropriate for a classroom never seems to occur to these people.
After all, Republicans are the ones who still insist that climate change is either a hoax or not a big deal even as the overwhelming majority of scientists tells that us it poses an existential risk to our species. Republicans are, after all, the ones who still insist that, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, trickledown economics work.
The simple fact is that Republicans believe what they want, regardless of the evidence. It’s little wonder then that they hold education and the selfless individuals who dedicate themselves to imparting knowledge to our youth in such vile disregard. Ironically, Donald Trump Jr. is a prime example of what happens when not enough attention is paid to education. He is a jabbering, ignorant fool.

Let’s be frank, he’d be off happily licking doorknobs in Trump Tower if his father weren’t constantly carting him out to shill for his reelection.

Soon after his shameful remarks broke, junior found himself buried beneath an avalanche of rightfully angry tweets, ranging from teacher unions to Americans who simply refuse to allow educators to be so unfairly attacked and maligned. The outpouring of tweets against Trump Jr. was powerful and poignant, a stirring reminder that much of this country still has not lost its collective mind.
Donald Trump Jr. called teachers “losers” today. Must mean we’re doing something right. https://t.co/uRLJHgWFrP

-Every single thing he says is an insanity-level lie.
-Don Jr. calling teachers losers is straight heartbreaking.

Loser teachers. Nice.
I am a first year teacher. I have to buy my own supplies for my students to even have the basics to learn. I am too busy trying to get them ready for the next grade and worrying about where we are getting our next box of glue to indoctrinate them.

Would that he’d paid enough attention to the “loser teachers” to know whether to use ‘who’ or ‘that’.

Like father, like son: “I love the poorly educated," @realDonaldTrump “You don’t have to be indoctrinated by these loser teachers,” @DonaldJTrumpJr. #LoserTeachers #ElPasoRally

@DonaldJTrumpJr – I am one of those “loser teachers” and I will do more good in the next five days in my classroom than you will do in the rest of your sorry life. You are the broken progeny of a failure of a father. Try breaking the cycle and being your own man. #beBetter https://t.co/kf1Jp2GfkY

Sure, call all educators "losers". You just show what an uneducated prick you are. But of course the @GOP would want their platform to ridicule education. It is much easier to control those that are dumb. Case in point, the dumb inbred idiots cheering his disrespect of teachers. https://t.co/UWz4rqyVTK
