Trump just gave Democrats bizarre, childish “advice” during morning Twitter rant

President Trump unleashed a rapid-fire series of odd, disjointed tweets this morning that were so short and unfocused that it felt like he had a compulsion to be active on Twitter even though he didn’t have anything to say or any real message to push.

One of them was a generic brag about how hard he works, this despite the fact that the recent leak of his schedule revealed that he does very little work at all and spends most of his time watching television during so-called “executive time.” Even if he didn’t waste all of his time glued to Fox News, the idea that he works harder than say President Lincoln or FDR or any other number of presidential greats is laughable at face value. Nobody believes Trump works hard, and given his profound incompetence at his job, that’s probably a good thing for all of us.

Trump then decided to attack Democrats by calling them “self-righteous” and “angry” before making the odd suggestion that they should “loosen up and have some fun.” Of course, Democrats are unlikely to heed his advice because there is nothing fun about his administration throwing children into cages along the border, stoking racial divides, or standing by idly as climate change slowly moves us towards a planet incapable of supporting life.

In other words, the country is not doing “well” as Trump insists, not unless you’re one of the super wealthy plutocrats who has benefited from his presidency either through corruption or his indefensible tax cuts. Furthermore, another government shutdown looms on the horizon, and given Trump’s performance during the most recent one, there is little reason to believe a compromise will be struck. It’s far more likely that hundreds of thousands of federal workers will once again have to go without pay and more damage will be inflicted on our economy.

Trump can relax all he wants, the rest of us are deeply worried about the future of this country and world and now is no time to “loosen up,” not until he is finally booted out of the White House.
