Border Patrol just sent Trump a message about the wall that he can’t afford to ignore

The most ludicrous thing about Donald Trump’s government shutdown — now the longest and by extension most inexcusable in American history — is that the only thing prolonging it is his continued demands for money to pay for his idiotic, wasteful, pointless, racist border wall. Most Americans don’t want it, and now that Democrats control the House of Representatives there is no way the president is getting it.

Today, the Twitter account for Customs and Border Patrol Arizona shared a video that they claim is a group of over 110 Central Americans entering the United States by climbing over the fence with a ladder. While it’s possible that whoever posted the video for Border Patrol thought it would send a message that “scary foreigners” are pouring into the country, all the clip really proves is that walls don’t work.

In other words, Trump wants to flush billions of dollars in taxpayer funds down the toilet to construct a medieval wall that can be overcome with a cheap ladder bought from Home Depot. The wall would accomplish nothing beyond standing as a shrine to Trump and his followers’ rabid racism.

There is also a possibility that whoever posted the video for Border Patrol was intentionally sending an anti-wall message. The longer Trump holds out over wall funding, the longer the government will stay shut down, and the longer federal employees, including those who work for the Border Patrol, will be forced to go without pay.

Perhaps someone at Border Patrol shared the video in the hopes that it would send a message to the president that his wall is stupid and that he should open the government and start paying workers again. If that’s the case, hopefully, he sees it and finally caves.

Watch the clip below, and then call up your representatives and tell them to vote No on a border wall and Yes on a clean bill to open the government.
