Trump’s Press Secretary just got hammered for whitewashing white supremacy in MLK Day tweet

Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day, where we celebrate the memory of one of America’s greatest civil rights leader and our political establishment tries its hardest to whitewash away everything that made MLK a revolutionary in the first place.

While it’s disgusting enough to see institutions like the FBI (which spied on MLK for years and sent him a letter telling him to kill himself), the U.S. Marines (MLK was a staunch anti-imperialist who condemned the brutality of the U.S. military) and the National Rifle Association (the NRA traffics in disgusting racism and xenophobia on a daily basis) pretending to honor MLK’s legacy, it is beyond upsetting to see the Trump White House and its racist enablers attempt to remove the role that the white supremacists they support played in his murder.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders took to Twitter this morning to honor the “sacrifice” of Martin Luther King, who apparently “gave his life” to right the wrong of “racial inequality.”

Of course, Martin Luther King did not “give” anything and did not “sacrifice” his life.

He was murdered by a white supremacist in cold blood.

Huckabee Sanders’ words makes it sound like King sacrificed himself in an act of martyrdom, entirely removing the white supremacist and his heinous crime from history and absolving the white racists of all responsibility for the crimes.

Social media was quick to hit back at Sanders for her awful tweet.
