Trump-loving high schoolers are at the center of another racial controversy, this time at a basketball game in Minnesota.
Just two days after racist kids from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky were caught on camera harassing a Native American veteran, the basketball squad at Jordan High School is pulling out of a Martin Luther King Day tournament after their fans decided to make their last game political.
Minneapolis Roosevelt High School visited Jordan High last Tuesday for a friendly basketball game, but the players were disgusted to find a crowd of opposing fans decked out in red, white, and blue with an enormous “KEEP AMERICA GREAT” flag waving at them.

The team, which usually spends the anthem in the locker room, was not pleased.
“I coach a predominantly black inner-city high school team. We go out to a rural area in Jordan, MN and this is there. Please explain how and why this is appropriate at a high school basketball game?” asked their coach Michael Walker in an angry Facebook post.
The owner of the flag, mother Bridget Khan, claimed that there was nothing racist about it and said they were just celebrating a “USA-themed blackout” and that there was nothing wrong with “a bunch of red, white and blue, supporting their president. They don’t have a racist bone in their body.”
The student body’s response, however, made it clear that this was not the case.

District superintendent Matt Helgerson apologized and reportedly opened an investigation into those responsible before deciding to pull his school out of their next game, an MLK Day basketball tournament, entirely to teach the kids a lesson.
“[District officials] regret that Roosevelt players and their coaching staff, fans and community were made to feel uncomfortable, as it is always our intent to graciously host our opponents. [The district is] reviewing this matter and collecting information [and] working cooperatively with the Minneapolis School District and Roosevelt High School in our review and response to this event,” said Helgerson to the Star-Tribune.
“After discussion with the MLK Showcase event coordinator, a decision has been made to pull out. Given recent events, we believe the participation of our team in the event will detract from the hard work of the athletes and the upbeat focus of the MLK Showcase … We will continue to work with the Minneapolis School District … to move forward in a positive direction.”
Facing consequences for their actions is sure to be a surprise for these kids. At this point, the Trump brand is synonymous with racism, and waving his campaign flag is a clear embrace of his disgusting agenda.
