Not surprisingly, President Trump’s lie-riddled Oval Office speech last night failed to move the dial on the border wall debate. As desperate as he is to get funding for his pet project to appease his frothing the base, the bully pulpit is useless against the new Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has made it clear her party is not willing to waste billions of dollars on a pointless.
Rather than just cave now as he inevitably will later and sign a bill to end the shutdown and reopen the government, Trump has chosen instead to thrash about vainly on Twitter and in front of cameras, ranting about an emergency that doesn’t exist. He knows that if he accepts defeat, he will be failing to uphold his central campaign promise which, laughably enough, reportedly came about as a mnemonic device to help him and his addled brain remember to mention immigration during his campaign speeches.
Of course, the president’s minions and media surrogates will yammer on about the wall in their faux self-righteous fashion until Trump turns his attention to some new shiny topic. The most sycophantic member of the president’s corrupt criminal coterie, Donald Trump Jr. decided to get in on the conversation by sprinkling a heavy dose of racism over it.
Trump Jr. wrote on his Instagram story that people are able to “enjoy a day at the zoo” because “walls work,” directly comparing the mostly Hispanic migrants looking for a better life in the United States to animals. This is the same man who once compared refugees with poisoned Skittles, so this isn’t exactly new territory for him. At the same time, this kind of bigoted rhetoric from a First Son is unacceptable.

Business Insider reports that spokesperson for the First Son has already addressed the scandal.
“Don’s post was strictly about illustrating the danger and violence that comes with unsecured borders, a danger I may add that far too many angel moms know too well. Anyone insinuating otherwise is simply attempting to create a phony controversy out of thin air to distract from Don’s point that walls equal safety,” the individual claimed.
The far more likely explanation is that Trump Jr. knew his post would be interpreted as racist, but also knew that much of his father’s base would look on such racism in a positive light. Absolutely disgusting.
