Nancy Pelosi just sent shivers down Trump’s spine with an unprecedented indictment statement

Today marks the day Democrats finally seize back control of the House of Representatives and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) once again ascends to the Speakership. President Trump loses one of his most important bulwarks against accountability and finds himself vulnerable to what is sure to be a wave of subpoenas. The American people now have advocates in the federal government with meaningful power to get to the root of the president’s criminality and corruption.

With expectations that Special Counsel Robert Mueller will be revealing the results of his probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia sometime in the coming months, Democratic control of the House carries a distinctly ominous shade for the Trump administration. If serious charges are leveled at Trump himself, Pelosi will find herself in a position to spearhead impeachment proceedings against him.

If that happens, we could very well find ourselves in a constitutional crisis. If Mueller provides evidence that President Trump committed felonies, the country will find out if a sitting president can be indicted, something which has no precedent and which legal scholars debate. Now, Pelosi has made her opinion on the matter clear.

In her new interview with NBC’s Today, Pelosi was asked by host Savannah Guthrie if she thinks Mueller’s office should fall in line with the Justice Department guidance that sitting president is immune to indictment. Pelosi was blunt.

“No, I mean I don’t think — I do not think that that is conclusive. No, I do not,” said Pelosi.

With this simple statement, she becomes the most prominent, high-ranking government official to say that a Trump indictment is possible, giving real encouragement to those patriotic Americans who still hold out hope that the end of the cruel story that is the Trump presidency could end with the man himself behind bars. The coming months will be difficult for the United States, but one thing is abundantly clear: Nancy Pelosi is more than up to the challenge.
