Earlier today, Trump’s humiliated and reviled former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn faced a judge to receive sentencing for his crime of lying to the FBI about his contacts with the Russian ambassador in 2016. While the judge ended up agreeing to a request from Flynn’s lawyer to postpone sentencing until 2019, the hearing itself was deeply damning for the Trump administration.
The judge talked about his deep disdain for Flynn’s crimes and even floated the possibility at one point that the former general had committed treason. Flynn, for his part, admitted that he was guilty and that he had not been entrapped by the FBI despite the president’s claims to the contrary.
Now, White House Press Secretary and professional liar Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been forced to address today’s developments. During a press briefing, she was asked about the possibility of Flynn committing treason. She tried to pivot away from the question, but the reporter pressed the point and she claimed that she was unaware of anything that would back up the idea.

Next, she was asked about the judge saying he was “disgusted” by Flynn’s crimes and the fact that Flynn himself admitted to his crime. The reporter inquired as to whether these developments would prompt the White House to reverse its position that the FBI “ambushed Flynn.”
Huckabee Sanders refused to admit that the administration’s absurd conspiracy theory defense had been blown and instead doubled down on her attacks against the bureau and former FBI Director James Comey in a pathetic attempt to muddy the waters. It was a shameful, partisan move.
The White House’s continued refusal to recognize that Flynn is a crook who sold his country out for financial gain is indicative of a malignant, administration-wide rot. The deeper Huckabee Sanders digs in for her boss, the worse things are going to look when Mueller finally reveals the breadth of the corruption and criminality he’s uncovered.
First questions to @PressSec are about Flynn and a judge accusing him of something akin to treason. A reporter asks if she "would you like to revisit comments earlier today that the FBI ambushed Flynn here?"
