The FBI and IRS just raided the office of Trump’s longtime tax attorney

It’s looking like the American people might finally be getting an answer to the burning question of just exactly what is contained in President Trump’s tax returns — and why he’s gone to such excessive lengths to hide them.

In a stunning turn of events, federal agents have raided the office of an attorney who has previously handled Donald Trump’s tax returns. FBI agents stormed the Chicago City Hall office of Finance Committee Chairman Ed Burke, and promptly “kicked everyone out and papered over the windows Thursday morning,” reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Ed Burke runs a law firm, Klafter & Burke, which specializes in property tax appeals and which handled tax-related work for the Trump Organization for nearly twelve years before abruptly ending their relationship a few months ago.

While it’s not yet clear if the FBI raids are in connection to the President, it’s hard to imagine it’s a coincidence that the raids came on the same day as Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress.

Trump’s tax returns became a flashpoint during the 2016 election due to the preposterous gymnastics he performed in trying to justify their concealment from the American people, and prying them from his grubby sausage fingers has been a major goal of his political opposition.

On top of the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of tax evasion that Trump has already been exposed for committing, Trump’s tax returns are suspected to contain evidence of his business dealings with Russia and possibly even bribery payments from Russian oligarchs.

We’ve waited two long years to find out what he’s hiding — and we might finally be one step closer to getting some answers.
