The pro-Trump Navy SEAL who shot Bin Laden dead just blindsided Trump in McRaven feud

Trump reinflamed his feud with retired admiral and former Navy Seal Bill McRaven today by taking to Twitter and doubling down on his baseless claim that the United States should have taken down Osama Bin Laden even sooner than the military managed. McRaven, who oversaw the successful operation, defended himself against the initial insult but so far hasn’t addressed this new attack.

Instead, Robert J. O’Neill, the former Navy SEAL who personally shot and killed Osama Bin Laden inside his Abbottabad compound in Pakistan has come to McRaven’s defense.

O’Neill is, by any definition, an American hero. He also happens to be politically conservative and has attacked prominent Democrats in the past and defended Trump and members of his family. In other words, he’s the furthest thing from an anti-Trump liberal activist.

That said, it appears Trump’s latest disgraceful comments about the brave men and women who carried out the Bin Laden operation are too much for O’Neill to stomach. Without mentioning President Trump directly, he took to Twitter to defend the operation.

“The mission to get bin Laden was bipartisan. We all wanted to get him as soon as we could,” O’Neill tweeted, neatly defeating Trump’s idiotic comments that McRaven is a “Hillary fan” and “Obama backer,” as if supporting either Democrat would mean he didn’t execute his military duties faithfully.

O’Neill also gave a quick, humorous response to a Twitter user who questioned whether or not the U.S. could have eliminated Bin Laden sooner. Referencing the stealth helicopters they used to reach the terrorist leader’s compound, O’Neill tweeted:

Previously, O’Neill defended McRaven by tweeting that he was “born to lead this mission” and that he would follow him anywhere.

Clearly, Trump has bitten off more than he can chew with his latest line of insults. A cowardly conman is no match for Navy SEALS and Trump would be far better off keeping his mouth shut. There is no excuse for politicizing military issues.
