While the nation rightfully focuses on the assassination attempts of prominent Democratic figures, the right-wing midterm election propaganda campaign is continuing full-steam ahead, with truly breathtaking lies at its forefront.

From the president all the way down the ballot, Republicans are suddenly trying to pretend that they’re the ones who care about your healthcare, that they haven’t tried to repeal the Affordable Care act fifty-seven times over the past few years, and that they aren’t currently trying to sue their way into allowing health insurance corporations to resume charging sky-high premiums to people with pre-existing healthcare conditions.

On Wednesday, President Trump promised that Republicans would “totally” protect people with pre-existing conditions, which is ridiculous considering that his administration is currently in the process of suing to repeal the individual mandate and the Affordable Care Act’s pre-existing conditions.

Former President Obama hit the campaign trail in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this afternoon and publicly called out Trump for “blatantly, repeatedly, baldly, shamelessly lying:”

In June, President Trump’s own administration refused to defend the Affordable Care Act in court against a lawsuit filed by Texas’ Attorney General Ken Paxton that argues that the individual mandate and its accompanying pre-existing condition protections are unconstitutional, which would have made it legal for health insurance companies to once again extort America’s 130 million people with pre-existing conditions out of huge sums of money for their very lives.

Kudos to President Obama for standing up and making sure that the American people know the truth. We’ve worked too long and too hard to allow the right-wing to lie their way back into office and rewrite history to whitewash themselves of their appalling positions.
