Time for your daily dose of racism porn, and this time it’s the international edition.
After a seemingly endless number of incidents of racist behavior caught on video here in the United States thanks to ubiquitous mobile phone cameras, this detestable and hateful conduct is proving to be not just limited to the places where Donald Trump has emboldened poorly socialized excuses for civilized human beings to express their inner-xenophobe.
Apparently, Great Britain’s colonial legacy has generated as much latent racism as America’s Confederate history, judging from the latest video of blatant bigotry to go viral. The incident that the video documents took place on a Ryanair flight returning to Britain’s Stansted airport from Barcelona and commenced when a white man began shouting at an elderly black woman because she hadn’t moved quickly enough out of her aisle seat to allow him to reach his window seat, according to a report by the BBC.
The woman’s daughter told The Huffington Post that her 77-year-old mother, who was returning from a vacation that she had booked to distract her from the first anniversary of the death of her husband, has arthritis and can’t move quickly. When the offensive man arrived at the aisle, he began to speak loudly and harshly to her as he waited for her to allow him to access his seat. A fellow passenger, David Lawrence, who also took the video footage of the verbal assault, described what happened next:
“That was what got my attention as it was very loud and very aggressive. He started to shout at the woman, saying ‘get out of the way’, ‘move your feet’, ‘you shouldn’t be sitting here’.”
“He pushed past the woman and went to his seat,” he said.
Lawrence described what happened next as the “most disgusting exchange of racial slurs and foul language” that he’s seen. The man threatens to push the woman to another seat, calls her an “ugly black bastard,” and when she replies to him in her Jamaican accent says “don’t talk to me in a f*cking foreign language, you stupid, ugly cow.”
The woman’s daughter, who had been seated elsewhere, joined other passengers in denouncing the man as flight attendants tried to deal with the disturbance, which was forcefully stopped by a man seated in the row behind the two who intervened after being disgusted by the racist behavior.
Eventually, the woman was moved to another seat to avoid being near the unidentified racist, but Lawrence and other critics of how Ryanair handled the situation believe that the man should have been removed from the flight and handed over to the police. After the video of the incident began circulating, calls for a boycott of Ryanair over their handling of the situation have begun.
You can watch the video of the racist argument in the clip below.
If this is @Ryanair, they need to explain how this man's disgusting racial abuse of the black lady in the seat next to him ends up with HER being asked to move. It is beyond beliefhttps://t.co/OhBfpXHaNG
