First Lady Melania Trump made the news yesterday when a teaser clip from her new interview with ABC News hit the internet. In the video, she made the absurd claim that she’s the “most bullied person in the world.” Needless to say, the billionaire model wife of the most powerful man in the world is far from the most bullied person in the world.
Now, a new advance clip from the interview has been released, giving us another glance into the mind of the usually guarded Melania. After reminding the First Lady that she agreed to do the interview without preconditions determining which topics could and could not be discussed, ABC’s Tom Llamas asked her about Donald’s alleged extramarital affairs, the most infamous of course being that revealed by adult film star Stormy Daniels. He asked her if the scandals have put a strain on her marriage.
“It is not concern and focus of mine. I’m a mother and a First Lady, and I have much more important things to think about and to do. I know people like to speculate and media like to speculate about our marriage,” Melania said.
“Have you been hurt though?” Llamas pressed. The First Lady paused for a long moment, looking off into the distance as she calculated her response.
“Media what is speculating, yeah. It’s not always pleasant, of course. But I know what is right and what is wrong and what is true or not true,” she said.
Llamas then asked her about previous statements from Trump’s attorney-turned-attack-dog Rudy Giuliani, in which he claimed that Melania believes her husband’s claims that he didn’t cheat on her.
“I never talked to Mr. Giuliani,” she said, exposing the attorney yet again as a habitual liar.
“Why do you think he came out and said that?”
“I don’t know. You need to ask him,” Melania said. Of course, it doesn’t take a lot of thought to figure out why Giuliani would lie. He wanted to present the world with a unified First Couple in the hopes that it would quash the growing scandal.
Melania’s refusal to address the why of Giuliani’s deception cuts to the heart of her character. Even when she is lied about she refuses to fully break ranks from the Trump administration. She might not like her husband or his cronies, but at the end of the day, she’s a loyalist because it affords her a great deal of power. She is and always has been complicit in this regime’s misdeeds.
