North Carolina Republicans are using a fake photo of Dr. Ford to smear her in the worst way imaginable

The level to which Republicans are willing to stoop to ramrod their woefully unqualified nominee to the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh, through to confirmation reached a new low in North Carolina this week.

Lanny Lancaster, the chairman of the Republican Party in Cabarrus County, reached Trumpian levels of malicious deceit by posting a fake photo — allegedly a high school-era picture of Kavanaugh’s accuser in the sexual assault allegations, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford — in a post on Facebook, according to a report in Raleigh’s The News & Observer.

Lancaster reposted the photo of a young woman with large glasses and prominent braces from an original post by Joseph T. Mannarino, who may have found it circulating on one of the many right-wing extremist message boards on 4chan.

In actuality, the photo is definitively not Dr. Blasey Ford, having been plucked from online articles highlighting “bad yearbook photos” as well as “bad 80s hairstyles” by despicable conservative partisans trying to portray Kavanaugh’s alleged victim as too unattractive for the accused nominee to consider assaulting.

It is a tactic that President Trump himself has used in the past, having once said at a campaign rally in the same state:

“Yeah, I’m gonna go after her,” he said sarcastically at a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina. “Believe me, she would not be my first choice. That I can tell you. You don’t know. That would not be my first choice.”

The man who posted the fake news on Facebook, Lanny Lancaster, was unrepentant over his malicious and deceitful action when contacted by The News & Observer:

“I didn’t say anything. I just said this is her picture. Basically, the media is distorting the facts on this lady. Everything she’s said is made up. She has no evidence whatsoever. I support that theory,” Lancaster said.

“The media wants you to think she was a beautiful young lady who was on her way home from the tennis courts … ” Lancaster continued. “I just wanted you to see the real person. I wanted people to see that this is really her.”

Just like President Trump, most of the Republicans fighting to confirm Kavanaugh, and the nominee himself, Lancaster continues to lie even when confronted with the evidence of his falsehoods. That is why in the last remaining hours before the final Senate vote on his confirmation, it is imperative that you call the Senate to register your opposition to Kavanaugh’s appointment.
