President Trump’s hypersensitive ego appears to have once again gotten in the way of his efforts to build a diplomatic rapport with our international allies and fulfill his duties as the President of the United States.

The White House announced on Tuesday morning that Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Ireland has been canceled, giving no reason for the move. The Irish Independent reports that the Irish government was entirely blindsided by the announcement of the trip’s cancellation, just like they were when the trip was announced in the first place — a disturbing sign of the institutional dysfunction of the Trump White House and the casual disrespect he shows the rest of the world.

The Irish Independent sardonically remarked that the canceled trip is no doubt “a massive relief to the Government.”
The most likely reason for the cancelation of the visit is the enormous protests that furious Irish activists have planned for Trump’s presidential visit, including an appearance by the now-infamous “Baby Trump Balloon” that has accompanied anti-Trump protests across the world.
“Donald Trump’s administration champions policies that are destroying our planet, destabilising international order, and reaching new political depths by appealing to racism, misogyny, xenophobia and hatred. These policies do not reflect the Irish people’s values – we need to show him and the world that this is not normal!” said the leader of the Irish Green Party, Eamon Ryan, in his call for mass protests against the mandarin mogul.

The leader of the Irish Labour Party echoed those sentiments in his own call to action:
.@realDonaldTrump has been no friend of democracy or human rights. We will always be firm friends of the American people, but Ireland will not welcome a man with Trump’s record of discrimination, sexism and lies. @Labour will join with likeminded people to oppose this visit. https://t.co/tH0KxmaPnF

The trip was supposed to be one of the last stops on the way back from Trump’s visit to France, where he will attend the Armistice Day celebrations in France and finally get the military parade he longs for so dearly.
Earlier this year, Trump was forced to cancel his official trip to the United Kingdom after it was clear that he would have been hounded by massive protests everywhere he went.
It would appear that the ostensible leader of the free world, who wants public affection and attention more than anything, has only succeeded in alienating and repulsing everyone who doesn’t openly advocate for a fascist ethnostate.
