This morning saw the beginning of the second day of confirmation hearings for President Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and Democrats came ready to fight.

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) raked Kavanaugh over the coals in a stunning show of legal tightrope walking that exposes the right-wing extremist as a liar and a thief who has misled the Senate in his past testimony and will not hesitate to do so again.

We have discovered evidence that Judge Kavanaugh misled the Senate during his 2004 and 2006 hearings. Truthfulness under oath is not an optional qualification for a Supreme Court nominee. Watch as I question him here: https://t.co/twNcwl91PR

Back during the days of the Bush presidency, a Republican staffer by the name of Manny Miranda stole Democratic emails that contained the questions that the opposition was planning on asking President Bush’s judicial nominees.
Those stolen emails, some having belonged to Leahy himself, just so happened to find their way into the hands of those who were planning confirmation hearing strategy — like Brett Kavanaugh.

During the hearing, it became clear that Leahy had proof that Kavanaugh knew the documents were stolen and used them for political gain anyway, but the proof was locked away in the confidential documents that Republicans on the Judiciary Committee are refusing to release and thus could not be referenced in court, but that didn’t stop Leahy from doing his damnedest, as reported by Rewire News reporter Jessica Mason Pieklo:

It is pretty apparent based on Leahy's questions that Kavanaugh was in possession of stolen emails that he used to shepherd Bush judicial nominees so that's something

The tone of this exchange is very moderated but this is high Senate drama. Leahy is fully making the case for Kavanaugh as a liar and a thief

Kavanaugh now jumps into the fray to say his testimony is 100% accurate on this point
That shuts Grassley up. Leahy not so much. Leahy says there is evidence to suggest Kavanaugh had stolen emails and new it, hints there's more proof in the committee confidential documents

OOF — Leahy presses Kavanaugh about whether he found it "at all unusual to receive a draft letter from Democratic senators to each other before any mention of it was made public?"
In other words, Leahy is accusing Kavanaugh of having obviously stolen files in his inbox. pic.twitter.com/wYgCtlkphD

When faced with the evidence, Kavanaugh refused to give any definitive answers and appeared visibly shaken after the exchange, loudly hinting at his guilt for all to see.

This exchange highlights just how important the documents being withheld by Senate Republicans are to showing the public just what a partisan snake Brett Kavanaugh really is; a man who would lie to the Senate and use stolen emails for political gain.
That alone should be enough to disqualify him, but when you add in his appalling track record when it comes to the rights of anyone who isn’t an obscenely wealthy Christian white man, it’s clear that Brett Kavanaugh is not a man who should be given a lifetime appointment to anything.
