Not content with his deplorable attacks on organized labor on Labor Day, President Trump switched gears mid-afternoon and attacked his own Justice Department for doing their jobs and investigating Republicans for their misdeeds.

Calling out Attorney General Jeff Sessions by name, Trump made it clear that he believes that the Justice Department should be subservient to him and should be ignoring crimes by Republicans simply because they are Republicans and bringing them to justice is politically damaging to the already irredeemable Republican brand, and by extension politically damaging to Trump.

Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff……

….The Democrats, none of whom voted for Jeff Sessions, must love him now. Same thing with Lyin’ James Comey. The Dems all hated him, wanted him out, thought he was disgusting – UNTIL I FIRED HIM! Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact. Really sick!

The president’s tweet refers to the two investigations into the Congressmen who just so happen to have been Trump’s earliest backers, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and Rep.Chris Collins (R-NY), who have been indicted for egregious campaign finance violations and insider trading, respectively.
Since the president himself is almost certainly guilty of both of those crimes himself, he has good reason to want to establish a precedent of looking the other way as well as the irreversible damage to the Representatives’ re-election bids, the success of which Trump sees as a reflection of his own popularity and influence.
The president has been setting the stage for the replacement of Attorney General Jeff Sessions for some time now, still furious that Sessions recused himself from the Trump-Russia investigation after it was discovered that the then-Alabama Senator had held secret meetings with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak during the election.
His latest tweets are another sharp reminder that President Trump is corrupt to the core and has not an iota of respect for the independence of the Justice Department or the very concept of rule of law itself.
In a functioning republic, this tweet alone would ignite a constitutional crisis. https://t.co/F9zK7BW2QN
