This morning, the President took to Twitter to promote a right-wing fake news conspiracy about how the Chinese supposedly hacked Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Report just out: “China hacked Hillary Clinton’s private Email Server.” Are they sure it wasn’t Russia (just kidding!)? What are the odds that the FBI and DOJ are right on top of this? Actually, a very big story. Much classified information!

The source of this baseless claim is a story by the right-wing propaganda outlet the Daily Caller, which uses two anonymous sources to claim that a Chinese-owned company penetrated the former Democratic presidential candidate’s private email server and obtained nearly “all” of her emails.
The irony is mind-blowing, considering that just an hour later the President tweeted a slew of complaints about how the media uses “anonymous sources” to create their “fake news.”

When you see “anonymous source,” stop reading the story, it is fiction!

He probably should have taken his own advice, because NBC News is now reporting that the FBI has announced that there was “no evidence that Clinton servers were compromised.”
An FBI official to NBC News today: “The FBI has not found any evidence the (Clinton) servers were compromised." https://t.co/y03npnoFQS

So once again, the President of the United States is using his enormous platform to hawk baseless right-wing conspiracy theories with one hand while rudely discrediting the actual journalists who do their due diligence to present the actual truth to the American people every day.
An absolute disgrace.
