The president has been berating New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for the past few days after Cuomo made the bizarre decision to announce that America’s never really been that great, which is a debatable point but probably not a good political message to run on.

Trump has seized on this as an easy way to rip on Democrats and prove that they don’t believe in his mission and don’t want to “make American great.” He took to Twitter this morning to link Cuomo to Hillary Clinton and bash them both for their statements and rile up his base.

Which is worse, Hightax Andrew Cuomo's statement, “WE’RE NOT GOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, IT WAS NEVER THAT GREAT” or Hillary Clinton’s “DEPLORABLES” statement…

…I say Andrew’s was a bigger and more incompetent blunder. He should easily win his race against a Super Liberal Actress, but his political career is over!

The embattled Cuomo, facing serious barrages from both the right and from leftist primary challenger Cynthia Nixon, took to Twitter and fired off a scorching response that hits Trump right where it hurts and to make it clear what he considers “great” about America.
We know how tough Trump is: hiding behind tweets & ripping babies from their mothers arms
Let's get something straight: America is great because it rejects your hate-filled agenda of bigotry & sexism
Ny’ers have your number @realDonaldTrump & will fight you all day
Bring it on

The entire debate over America’s “greatness” is ridiculous in the first place. “Make America Great Again” is a narcissistic delusion steeped in toxic nationalism and implicit white supremacy; we should refrain from engaging with Trump on his own terms and allowing him to set the parameters of greatness.
But this backbone from Cuomo is a welcome surprise from a man who gerrymandered his own statehouse to give Republicans control and to prevent any real progress from disturbing the status quo his Wall Street donors love so dearly.
