Jokes about President Trump’s mental state and its apparent decline are a dime a dozen these days, but they suddenly became much, much less funny when former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault revealed in her tell-all book that she walked in on the President of the United States “eating paper at his desk,” according to the Washington Post.
In early 2017, Manigault Newman says she walked Michael Cohen, then Trump’s personal lawyer, into the Oval Office for a meeting with Trump — and saw the president chewing up a piece of paper while Cohen was leaving the office. Another White House official confirmed that Manigault Newman brought Cohen into the White House and was later rebuked for it. The two remain in contact, according to people familiar with the relationship.
“I saw him put a note in his mouth. Since Trump was ever the germophobe, I was shocked he appeared to be chewing and swallowing the paper. It must have been something very, very sensitive,” she writes in her book.
The fact that this accusation cannot be immediately dismissed out of hand is a damning indictment of this country’s ability to choose its leaders.
The President’s increasingly irrational behavior, the nonsensical statements he makes over and over during his rallies, the way he slurs his words, his insistence that the F-35 fighter jet is literally invisible… all the signs indicate that something very wrong is going on in the president’s brain — and it’s not just the racism and the narcissism.
