MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow obtained secretly recorded audio of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) during a closed-door fundraiser for Rep. Cathy McCorris Rodgers (R-WA), where the California congressman was giving a speech.

During his remarks, Nunes explains the conundrum of moving to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia, as well as obstruction of justice. Should he proceed in his blatantly politically driven agenda of impeaching Rosenstein – who would then theoretically be replaced by someone willing to do Trump’s bidding of ending the Mueller probe – he concedes that the Kavanaugh nomination would be stalled in the meantime. And given the recent leftward trend in elections, there is a strong likelihood that Republicans could lose their majority in the Senate, where Kavanaugh would need the votes to get confirmed.

“Do you want them to drop everything and not confirm the Supreme Court justice, the new Supreme Court justice?” Nunes explains in the recording. “The Senate would have to drop everything they’re doing … and start with impeachment on Rosenstein. And then take the risk of not getting Kavanaugh confirmed. So it’s not a matter that any of us like Rosenstein. It’s a matter of, it’s a matter of timing.”

In other words, Nunes admits that he’s playing politics with an ongoing investigation, as well as the confirmation of a judge he knows the American people do not want.

In fact, he’s so certain that Mueller’s investigation will result in Trump’s demise that he says outright that the Republican majority is the only thing protecting both the president and the implementation of his agenda.

Devin Nunes would rather do Trump’s bidding than let justice play out. If that doesn’t tell you all you need to know about the extent of Devin Nunes’ corruption, nothing will.
