Last night, Trump punched above his weight in dizzying fashion when he decided to launch an attack on the NBA’s most celebrated athlete, LeBron James.
The president obviously spent his Friday night watching CNN, the network he claims to loathe and the one on which Don Lemon conducted an interview with James. At the end of the interview, there was one question in particular that seemed to have gotten under Trump’s paper-thin skin.
What could *possibly* make the most insecure man in America attack LeBron James, the most celebrated athlete in the NBA, despite having heaped effusive praise on him in the past?

Our insecure Commander-in-Chief wasted no time pounding his fists for all to see.
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!

Michael Jordan, realizing he’d been unwittingly pulled into the controversy by being named in Trump’s tweet, issued a brilliant, articulate response to the president.
“One of the fundamental rights this country is founded on was freedom of speech, and we have a long tradition of nonviolent, peaceful protest. Those who exercise the right to peacefully express themselves should not be demonized or ostracized. At a time of increasing divisiveness and hate in this country, we should be looking for ways to work together and support each other and not create more division,” Jordan said.
This is not MJ’s first foray into politics, with the famed basketballer having voiced his opposition to House Bill 2 in North Carolina as well as his comments on police shootings. He also donated $1 million to both the Institute for Community-Police Relations and NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
LeBron, too, took the high road, only serving to highlight the president’s petulance even more.
Let’s get it kids!! Love you guys https://t.co/kY88geedus

Amid all of the fervor surrounding Trump’s tweet, LeBron did not even dignify the frenetic attack with a response, opting instead to focus his attention where it matters: the new $8 million public school that he funded, where students get free bikes, meals, and college tuition.
Even CNN host Don Lemon took to Twitter to easily humiliate the tacky president.

Lemon rightly points out that while LeBron is putting his money where is mouth is and helping America’s kids, Trump is still dealing with the fallout from his ongoing human rights catastrophe of separating children from their parents at the border and then putting them in cages. Even despite a federal judge’s mandate to reunite the families ripped apart by the administration, hundreds of children remain separated from their parents. This may not be the best time for Trump to compare virtuousness.
While it is shameful that professional athletes are now better role models than the President of the United States, it is not surprising given who sits in the Oval Office.
