Trump just made a humiliating mistake that could cost Republicans bigly in Ohio special election

President Trump’s very stable brain genius was put on full display this afternoon when he fired off a tweet endorsing Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH) in the August 7th special election to replace Rep. Pat Tiberi, who retired in frustration after realizing just how much dysfunction and gridlock he would be forced to deal with during the Trump era.

Unfortunately for him, Steve Stivers is not on the ballot next week.

It turns out that Troy Balderson is the Republican running in next week’s highly contested special election, while Stivers is facing Democrat Rick Neal during the November midterm elections.

Trump quickly deleted his tweet, but the gaffe is yet another example of the astonishing sloppiness and incredible lack of basic quality control that has come to be a defining characteristic of this administration.

Whether it’s misspelling “United States” in an official White House press release to praising the wrong candidate in a tweet, amateur laziness is the name of the game in Washington these days.

But with luck, this mistake might actually help the Democratic Party, even if by accident. According to the latest polls, Balderson leads his opponent, Democrat Danny O’Connor, by just one point, in a district the GOP has held for the majority of the 20th century.

We can only hope that Trump’s Ohio followers will listen to their Glorious Leader’s orders and cast their votes for Steve Stivers next week.
