Trump’s Giuliani and Bolton were just exposed holding meetings with terror group

The Trump administration’s deliberate escalation of tensions with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the President’s reckless decision to tear up the historic nuclear peace agreement that President Obama forged have had experts scratching their heads.

But a disturbing new discovery by the Young Turks’ Ken Klippenstein puts those moves in sharp perspective and should be setting off alarm bells across the world.

Justice Department documents indicate that National Security Advisor John Bolton and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani have met at least five times with an Iranian terror group opposed to the government of Iran since last July.

Giuliani is on record for three meetings with the National Council of Resistance of Iran, while Bolton met with them twice. The NCRI is the political wing of the People’s Mujaheddin of Iran (MEK), one of the oldest and bloodiest terror groups in the modern world.

Former State Department official Daniel Benjamin notes that since their founding in the 1960s, their crimes against the United States alone include “bombings and shootings directed against American military personnel stationed in Iran — three U.S. colonels were killed during this period, as were three contractors. There was an attempted kidnapping of the U.S. ambassador to Iran, an assassination attempt against the general heading the U.S. military mission, as well as attacks against Iranian facilities belonging to General Motors, Shell Oil, Pepsi, Pan Am Airlines and others.”

On top of those heinous acts, the MEK carried out dozens of bombings and killings in Iran after the revolution before fleeing to Iraq, where they first fought with Saddam Hussein against the Iranian army during the Iran-Iraq war and then participated in Saddam’s attempted genocide of the Kurds in the early 1990s before later attacking the Iranian embassy in New York City.

But in case you needed any more evidence that anything goes in Washington if you have enough money, the MEK was able to lobby their way into being taken off the terrorist organization list in 2009.

Bolton and Giuliani have both been paid enormous sums of money for their work lobbying on behalf of and polishing the reputation of the MEK in Washington, and it appears all that money is finally paying off with access to the President of the United States himself.

The group is commonly described as an “authoritarian cult” and is widely despised by Iranians for working with Saddam, which is why it’s horrifying to realize that Bolton and Giuliani are likely planning to use the MEK in their plots to impose regime change on Iran.

The reports are even more alarming with yesterday’s report that senior officials in the Australian government believe that Trump could be preparing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities within “a month.”

We can only hope that the President’s recent belligerence towards Iran is simply him playing hardball so that he can turn the negotiations into another fake “accomplishment” to tout like his “deal” with North Korea; actually starting a war with Iran would be a mistake of cataclysmic proportions that would lead to the deaths of millions of people and the nail in the coffin of American empire.

America’s foreign policy has long stopped pretending to have any rhyme or reason beyond advancing the interests of those that throw the most money at the military-industrial-national security complex, and nothing proves that more than seeing the preposterous hypocrisy of Republicans cozying up to terrorist groups because they wrote them a couple of cheques.
