Ivanka Trump just got the worst news yet about her clothing line, and she took brutal action

In a surprising turn of events, First Daughter Ivanka Trump has announced she will be shutting down her much-maligned clothing line “as soon as possible,” according to a source speaking to Page Six.

Ivanka, who is ostensibly a special adviser to the President, confirmed the news in a statement to the Wall Street Journal

“After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington. So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”

All the workers who will be laid off by the move will likely not find this to be very “fair,” especially since it appears that it was Ivanka’s own neglect that led to the company’s collapse.

An insider told Page Six that the Ivanka Trump brand “just never recovered since she stepped away from the company” — though we’d be willing to bet her father’s appalling policy decisions and unabashed racism probably has something to do with the fall in profitability as well.

While the President and his daughter publicly celebrate American-made products,  her fashion company was rocked by scandal last year when it was discovered that much of her merchandise is made in Chinese factory sweatshops, where workers are viciously abused and underpaid.

When non-profit labor activists tried to sound the alarm about the conditions in the factory, three of them mysteriously disappeared into Chinese state prisons, which some believe was a move by the government in order to protect the interests of the Trump family.

“This never happened before in my 17 years’ experience. This is the first time. The only reason we think this case is different is that this is Ivanka Trump’s factory” said Li Qiang, the founder of nonprofit watchdog China Labor Watch.

It’s unequivocally a good thing that Ivanka Trump’s company, which has also been hit with accusations of design plagiarism, is finally shutting down. It’s the most ethical move a Trump family member has made in a year in a half — and the fact that she was pressured into it tells you everything to know about what kind of a person she really is.
