Anti-Trump Congresswoman Maxine Waters just received a package labelled “anthrax”

The Los Angeles office of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was evacuated this afternoon after a package suspected to contain the toxin anthrax was delivered earlier in the day.

TMZ reports that a hazmat team is on the scene examining the package, which was labeled “anthrax,” but few other details have been released as of yet.

Rep. Waters has been the target of multiple death threats for her outspoken criticism of President Donald Trump and has been singled out and threatened by the president himself for her defiant calls for his impeachment. She’s even had to cancel major appearances after “serious” threats have been made on her life.

The beloved California representative refuses to be cowed by the threats, defiantly promising to never back down at a recent rally:  “I know that there are those who are talking about censuring me, talking about kicking me out of Congress, talking about shooting me, talking about hanging me. All I have to say is this, if you shoot me you better shoot straight, there’s nothing like a wounded animal.”

Even if this is nothing but a hateful joke, it’s deeply disturbing to see the ease with which the lives of black politicians are threatened in America today.
