“You look at this girl Ocasio-Cortez or whatever she is, I mean, she’s in a totally different universe. It’s basically socialism wrapped in ignorance” said the man who identifies as a “Tea Partier” and has been endorsed by hate groups.

His comments are the latest in a string of dismissive and vaguely sexist remarks directed at the young Ocasio-Cortez, whose stunning upset victory over former Rep. Joe Crowley in New York’s recent primary immediately reignited the battle between progressive and centrist within the Democratic Party and a fresh round of bad faith red-baiting from the Republican Party.

Rep DeSantis, it seems you‘re confused as to “whatever I am.”
I am a Puerto Rican woman. It‘s strange you don’t know what that is, given that ~75,000 Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida in the 10 mos since María.
But I’m sure these new FL voters appreciate your comments! https://t.co/xJlroSe5Hs

Right-wingers are busy working themselves into a frenzy at the barest mention of the “socialism” word — even if there’s a “democratic” in front of it — and have been resorting to increasingly despicable attacks and attempts to discredit her.
It’s very satisfying to see her be able to hold her own against what is certainly only the beginning of the deplorable smear campaign she’s inevitably going to have to weather.
