In a surprising turn of events, former FBI director James Comey took to Twitter this evening to lambaste the Republican Party for their role in excusing and enabling President Trump’s incessant efforts to whitewash the Russian Federation’s intrusion into the 2016 elections and the extensive cover-up of the President’s involvement in that cyberwarfare campaign against Hillary Clinton and the DNC.

Perhaps taken aback by the ease with which Republican Congressmen accepted the president’s pathetic attempt to walk back his denial of Russian meddling in the 2016 election this afternoon, Comey took to Twitter to sound the alarm – and to issue a startling demand to voters ahead of the key 2018 midterms:
This Republican Congress has proven incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design that “Ambition must … counteract ambition.” All who believe in this country’s values must vote for Democrats this fall. Policy differences don’t matter right now. History has its eyes on us.

No matter what Trump says or does, Republicans in Congress and in the Senate will do whatever it takes to sweep all his abuses and treasonous statements under the rug. Oh, sure, one or two of them might issue a Sternly Worded Statement or tweet passive aggressive Bible verses, but at the end of the day, they’ll do nothing to hold the President or his cronies accountable if it means threatening their hold on power or their ability to confirm the most unpopular Supreme Court Justice in American Gallup polling history.

We all need to take Comey’s advice and vote them out this November.
