As the Special Counsel’s investigation closes in on former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who is now facing the music for decades of questionably legal scams and schemes, the tension between Cohen and his former employer is growing by the day – with potentially devastating consequences for the President and his team.

Yesterday, Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani went on the Sunday shows and bizarrely urged Cohen to cooperate with Mueller probe in an obvious attempt to temper the stench of guilt that reeks from both Cohen and Trump.

“Michael Cohen should cooperate with the government. We have no reason to believe he did anything wrong. I have no concerns that Michael Cohen is going to do anything but tell the truth” said Giuliani on ABC’s “This Week.”
However, Cohen’s newest lawyer, Lanny Davis, did not take kindly to those words and quickly shot them down in a furious tweet:

Did @rudygiuliani really say on Sunday shows that @michaelcohen212 should cooperate with prosecutors and tell the truth? Seriously? Is that Trump and Giuliani definition of “truth”? Trump/Giuliani next to the word “truth” = oxymoron. Stay tuned. #thetruthmatters

Trump and his team are notorious for their abusive relationship with the truth and anything that comes out of their camp must be taken with an entire box of salt – which is why Davis was absolutely right to call them out for their suspicious statements.
Cohen is under investigation for serious bank fraud and campaign finance violations and is making it clear that he is not going to be taking the fall for Donald Trump, as he made clear last week when he announced that his first loyalty was to his family and his country – a very telling statement, considering Donald Trump’s notorious obsession with “loyalty” from his subordinates.
This newest statement from Cohen’s lawyer is a clear declaration of war between the two sides and the beginning of a race to see who can throw each other under the bus first – which is just what Mueller wants them to do.
