As the Trump administration continues its inhumane and unilateral “zero-tolerance” policy initiative of tearing apart children and their parents seeking legal asylum at the border, the president showed his hand this morning in a vile tweet.
Per his ongoing campaign to dehumanize immigrants, Trump referred to those fleeing persecution or even death in their own countries as an “infestation” of our country, likening them to vermin.
Democrats are the problem. They don’t care about crime and want illegal immigrants, no matter how bad they may be, to pour into and infest our Country, like MS-13. They can’t win on their terrible policies, so they view them as potential voters!

This is, of course, not the first time that Trump has used such rhetoric to describe immigrants. He recently referred to them as “animals” during a meeting at the White House.
California Lieutenant Governor and current frontrunner to become the next governor Gavin Newsom took to Twitter to call him out for his shamefully obvious campaign.
“Infest”…”animals”…the President continues to choose words that dehumanize immigrants. https://t.co/2MgA0BP2XX

Lest there be any doubt, this was Trump’s intention all along. His campaign for president was predicated on the notion that Mexico was sending “drug dealers, criminals, and rapists” into the United States, a claim that was duly refuted by Trump’s own ICE Director, Thomas Homan. But factuality has never been Trump’s goal; his intent was simply to fearmonger and beat the drum so that his supporters would ultimately find reason to support and justify his inhumane policies.
The policy is obviously unpopular. People from both sides of the aisle have condemned it, including all five First Ladies, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Rosalynn Carter, Laura Bush and even Melania Trump; former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly; Republican Senator John McCain; and the 49 Senators (no Republicans) who currently support legislation that would end the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy of separating parents and children at the border. And with Americans overwhelmingly opposing it, this may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back as midterms fast approach.
