Activists just humiliated Trump’s DHS Secretary eating dinner at a Mexican restaurant (WATCH)

The obliviousness of the Trump administration to the outrage over their incarceration of children ripped from the arms of their families at the border is truly stupefying.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, the woman who oversees ICE and the Border Patrol, couldn’t avoid being confronted with the evidence of public fury at the completely deplorable immigration policies instituted by Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, however, when she made the most inappropriate and ironic choice possible for a dinner out this evening — at a Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C.

Nielsen’s complicity in the horrific policies separating families at the southern border was made perfectly clear when she stepped on stage at the White House press briefing room yesterday and lied again and again, denying that immigrants were being mistreated despite clear audio and video evidence to the contrary and having the unmitigated gall to say that “this administration did not create a policy of separating families on the border” with a depth of Orwellian deceit that is unparalleled by anyone except her boss.

Luckily, when Nielsen went out for her Mexican meal, members of the Metro DC area Democratic Socialists of America were there to make sure she didn’t enjoy her meal without being confronted with the shame that she so definitely deserves.

The group entered the restaurant and began chanting slogans criticizing the Trump child kidnapping operation and emulating the crowd following Cersei in her Game of Thrones walk of shame, all while Secretary Neilsen looked down at her plate and tried her best to pretend she was in her safe space.

The Metro DC DSA group live streamed the entire inspiring encounter which you can watch in this multi-part Twitter thread kindly posted by Smash Racism DC.

Eventually the Metro DC DSA protestors’ disruption of business as usual — an appropriate response to the extraordinary violations of our standards of national behavior being forced down our throats by the Trump administration — pierced Secretary Nielsen’s hardened emotional exoskeleton and drove her from the restaurant trailing behind the legacy of shame that will forever be associated with her name henceforth.

Her exit was caught on video by Slate writer Osita Nwanevu who posted the clip of the hasty retreat, accompanied by the Secret Service, on Twitter.

Bravo to the brave protestors who refused to let the Homeland Security Secretary dine in peace while thousands of children are sleeping in cages!

Given the number of restaurant workers of Latin American origin in eateries around the country, one would imagine that Trump administration members would foreswear dining out in public.

Those who have worked in restaurant kitchens know exactly how to mete vengeance on patrons who cross or disgust them with an equally disgusting form of an off-menu food additive. Secretary Nielsen and the rest of the Trump cabinet may want to start dining out with food testers and Immodium in tow.
