The right-wing propaganda machine is in full swing, desperate to sell Trump’s summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un as a historic, unmitigated diplomatic victory. In reality, it’s unclear if the meeting accomplished anything all, given that the joint statement signed by the two leaders lacks any concrete details or specific steps on how to proceed.
As of right now, it was still nothing more than a PR stunt for a president infamous for his ability to manipulate the media and stage splashy, headline-grabbing events. He’s given us reality television masquerading as international relations.
Of course, the conservatives fawning over Trump for his trip to Singapore would have fallen to hysterical pieces if President Obama had decided to meet with Kim. In fact, many of them did attack Obama for even considering such a summit.

Luckily, CNN has decided to point out the rank hypocrisy. Earlier today, Chris Cuomo “New Day” ran a segment showcasing Fox pundits and prominent Republicans for saying during the 2008 campaign that he was open to meeting leaders unfriendly to the United States. CNN then contrasted the older statements with the newer ones about Trump’s Kim meeting, which they are uniformly praising. Side-by-side the results are less than flattering for the Trumpists…
