It’s worth recalling from time to time that there was no gradual breakdown in good faith between the Trump administration and the American people. Donald entered the Oval Office and immediately ordered his lapdogs to begin lying to the country, often about the smallest, most insignificant details. There was never even a halfhearted attempt at good faith on the part of the conman president.
Almost two years into this disastrous administration it can be hard to keep track all of the lies that have been sprayed at us, first by former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and now by his equally execrable successor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Both have been positively shameless in their duplicity and history will surely judge them harshly.
That said, one of the first whoppers to come out of the Trump White House is perhaps still the most infamous. When Spicer stepped up to the podium and insisted that Donald Trump’s inauguration crowd was the largest in history — this despite all of the photographic proof to the contrary — it became painfully clear what kind of absurd, comically dishonest administration we had been saddled with.

It was a laughable lie which it appears will hound Spicer for the rest of his life, a fact that the Washington Metro was quick to remind him of today when their official Twitter account trolled him and the president he served.
@WMATA tweeted that people are interested to learn how many riders they metro has had because of the Washington Capitals victory parade in celebration of the hockey team recently winning the Stanley Cup for the first time. In response to such questions, the Metro said they have one answer:
“This is the largest audience to ever witness a Capital victory parade. PERIOD.”
The statement is, of course, a riff on Spicer’s lie when he said, “This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration. PERIOD.” While the Metro tweet reads as goodnatured, it’s a reminder of what a laughingstock our current administration is. Nobody takes them seriously, not even the public transportation organization in their city.
We know a lot of you are interested in ridership numbers, and we'll have those for you in a bit. For now, we can say: "This is the largest audience to ever witness a @Capitals victory parade. PERIOD." #WMATA #ALLCAPS #StanleyCup
