A top Republican strategist just exploded at Trump and the Republican Party over G7 disaster

President Trump made a fool of himself at the G7 Summit in Canada, and in the process, he embarrassed himself, the office, and the people of the United States.

That’s not our verdict, or one that Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Party, and the “fake news media” are exclusively pushing.  That’s the opinion that many members of the president’s own Republican Party are expressing today – and doing so rather bluntly.

Steve Schmidt is a longtime Republican strategist and was John McCain’s campaign manager during his 2008 run for the White House.  He took to Twitter early Sunday morning and delivered his own assessment of the president’s petulant performance and the petty partisan pussyfooters in the GOP who enable him.

“TRUMP disgraced the Presidency and the United States at the G-7 summit,” he wrote bluntly. “From his slovenly appearance to his unpreparedness, ignorance and arrogance, he beclowned himself. The Republican majority is filled with cowards who are servile supplicants to the most unfit POTUS ever.”

Jeez, Steve… tell us how you really feel!

But he wasn’t done. After the president decided the G7 was the perfect place to express his love for Kremlin strongman Vladimir Putin and demand that Russia be readmitted into the multinational trade group, Schmidt said what most of us have been thinking since the election.

“I think it’s time we give Vladimir Putin his due,” he wrote semi-sarcastically. “He is clearly the greatest intelligence agent —ever. He has engineered the unraveling of the western alliance, fidelity to democracy in the United States and the severing of the UK from the EU.  It’s a remarkable achievement.”

Schmidt has been on the “Never Trump” train since it first left the station during the 2016 campaign. He’s been one of the few Republican voices warning of exactly this kind of catastrophic presidency this whole time.

Few in his own party listened then, and there’s little indication that many more are hearing him now.
